What is EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique?
EFT if a gentle technique used to balance and re-align the energy in the body. It was developed by Gary Craig and inspired by the work of Roger Callahan. The basic principles are similar to ancient Chinese Medicine in that there is a focus on the various meridians (pressure points) also used in acupuncture. Unlike acupuncture, EFT does not use needles to stimulate the meridian points. The points are stimulated by tapping on them with your finger tips.
The theory behind EFT is that any issue we are having is a result of a disruption in our energy field which is related to an emotional event we experienced in the past. With EFT, there is a focus on emotional issues while doing the tapping. Focusing on the emotions allows clearing in the disruptions in our energy systems that are believed to be stuck due to any unresolved emotional issues of the past. These disruptions are a result of difficult and challenging experiences we faced early in life and were unable to release the energy from out body at the time of the event. That energy was stored and it continues to block our flow, causing us repeated trauma and grief as a result of these early experiences.
